According to espn a few minutes ago, the cardinals just traded for John Lackey... Now I know Im not qualified to be a major league general manager, but I do watch quite a few games and have what Id consider to be a slightly better than average grasp on baseball in general. My take is that mozielak is a fool... Pitching is fine, bla bla bla, whatever... Hello, the bats have been sleeping all year. Im fine with showing some loyalty to the farm club, but when there are big bats out there, why sit around and let them go to waste on an inferior team. If the offense is rolling, that will spark the pitching & defense. We shouldve gone after an offensive catalyst, a big bat, someone who could put some electricity in the lineup. I think the Cards kinda dropped the ball this year. I applaud them for adding pitching depth with not one but two quality hurlers, however, if anyone in their right mind were to tell me that they wouldnt be willing to trade someone like Tavares and Carlos Martinez for Stanton, Id call them plain silly.
