According to the Arizona Star today the Pima County Supervisors are writing off the A-10 at D-M, AFB, one of bases main tactical mission, saying that they support the F-35 program, with hopes it comes to D-M. Funny thing is, the first and only F-35 arrived a Luke AFB, AZ, Phoenix, this week to start a training program for new F-35 pilots. With 435 F-35s to be delivered over a 10 year period, these supervisors are tanking the A-10 that brings over $1 Billion dollars annually to Tucson, not to mention that is the best, if not the greatest ground support aircraft, destroyer of armored vehicles and tanks this country has ever had. Troops on the ground, like the Apache but love the Hog. Just as a grunt on the ground in the first Gulf War or those who were in Indian Country in Iraq or Afghanistan. Just goes to show how far politics go in this day and time. The F-35 had parts that are made in 41 states, the A-10 are here and now, no new ones, just refits. So our Senators with no military experience are grounding a great aircraft for the sake of jobs in their sates. They care nothing about the military or our troops; they care for only about votes.
