According to the Mexican Ministry of Tourism, the first half of 2014 was the best period of tourism in Mexico history. The ministry announced that Americans took the largest share of international arrivals to Mexico with 56.5 percent of the total. Meanwhile, today is day 101 of Mexico holding a decorated Marine, 25 year old Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi for mistakenly crossing the border after missing the last exit to remain in the United States and possessing three guns in his vehicle. Tahmooressi served two tours in Afghanistan and recently moved to San Diego to receive treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder. Both the defense attorney for Tahmooressi and the attorney representing Mexican officials who arrested him at the border told reporters that it will be months before the judge makes a decision. Americans upset with Mexico imprisoning our soldier while thousands of illegals cross our border daily need to do at least two things immediately: 1) STOP vacationing in Mexico and let your travel agent know the reason why until our soldier is released and 2) contact your elected federal officials to put pressure on our president to effect Sgt. Tahmooresis immediate release.
