According to the World Health Organization (W.H.O.) there are confirmed cases of Ebola in seven countries including the USA. United Nations seeking nearly $1 billion to fight Ebola in West Africa has received a deposit of $100,000 so far paid by Colombia.Since then $365 million has been committed to stop Ebola in Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea, which have been hit hardest by the epidemic.In addition the need of the hour is R&D to develop vaccine. Dr. David Nabarro who is heading the U.N. response to the Ebola crisis, said the trust fund is intended to offer greatest need to the areas to be identified. The United Nations has established a special mission, known as UNMEER, in Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea to coordinate efforts to fight Ebola which spread through direct contact with body fluids from an infected person. The fund is expecting to receive an additional $19 million. Australia has committed to a contribution of more than $8.7 million,and apart from this Chile, Estonia, India and Romania are in the emergency pipe line for donation. In addition to $365 million in cash and contributions of resources to be donated by by 28 countries, the African Union, the European Union, the World Bank, the African Development Bank and several foundations, another $204 million is expected. 9:48 AM Morning Dhaka Time,Friday,17th Oct’14
