According to the federal bureau of labor statistics. Only 4.5% of all hourly paid workers make minimum wage. Of that 4.5% , over half are age 25 or younger. The majority of these earners were single. What we can draw from this is that moSt hourly paid workers who are married with families are already earning more than minimum wage. So at best raising minimum wage simply wont have much of an affect on those who need the most income. Worst case scenario, the wage hike causes inflation which makes things harder for those who were supposed to be helped.
