According to the history of the Mamprugu Lunsi oracles in Ghana, GOD created the sea first. There was nothing in the world apart from water, from top to down and from east to west. The world was like an egg that is full of yoke. There was no sky, no air, no land, no sun. There was no moon nor stars and no one knows the exact shape and form of the earth apart from M DUGMA. The name of the sea in the Mamprusi language is MORE, which begins with the letter M. The English word more is derived from the Mamprusi word MORE which is sea. The sea has no ending, therefore, there is more and more and more of it. Thus, the meaning of the word more indicates plenty or abundance or something that has no ending. This is no different from the sea because the sea has no ending. After creating the sea, GOD existed with the sea alone for several years. Nothing in this world can compare to the greatness and power of GOD. He created the sea first and asked the sea to take care of itself. He did not ask the sea to worship him; he only wanted the sea to know that he created it. But, unfortunately, later on, the sea became proud and denied GOD who created it. Because the two of them (God and the sea) existed in the world for years, the sea challenged GOD, implying that he was equal to GOD. As all powerful and all knowing, God had the ability and capacity to destroy the sea but because of his mercy and compassion he did not. He only wanted the sea to acknowledge that he was the creator by creating the earth inside the sea. Then he asked the sea to move and leave some space. Afterwards, he created the sky and the air and warned the sea not to control any of the two elements he had just created. He only told them to take good care of themselves and that none should serve the other. They all agreed and GOD left them. These three elements existed alone for several years until the sea decided to control them. The sky would not accept this because GOD, their father and creator, didnt even ask them to worship him, how then did the sea seek to have them worship him (the sea)? This led to conflict between the sea and the sky. The air tried to remain neutral in this conflict. Then the sea tried to swallow the sky but the air between the sky and the sea wouldn’t allow the sea. GOD appeared on the scene and warned the sea to cease the confrontation but it refused. Three times GOD warned the sea and asked him to quit the fight but the sea did not listen. It just wanted to swallow the sky but because the air was in between them, it did not succeed. GOD appeared to them again and created the earth by placing the big ruler, the SUN, into the sky along with the stars and the moon for them to protect the sky against the SEA. The SUN, as a great warrior, protected the sky for 12 hours and afterwards, entered into the sea and fought the sea for 12 hours. In the absence of the SUN, the stars and the moon protected the sky. In order to reduce the power and strength of the sea, GOD told the SEA to shift sidewards and that led to the creation of the land of Africa. This is why anytime the sea conquers some part of the sky the rain begins to fall. The best of Sugru yours Africanologist.
