According to the official website Venice Beach Boardwalk is about 1.5 miles long. That means I walked 3 miles today not including entering shops and browsing; and trekking barefoot out to the ocean easily adds another mile to and from the boardwalk across pure beautiful clean sand. Great leg workout. I definitely got it in today. I love Venice Beach and Santa Monica but I have to say it really puts Santa Cruz in perspective---people will say its a vagrant town and talk about the homeless and beggars, but by the time I got back to the south end of the boardwalk today I felt glad I could go home to what seems like a very quiet and humble Santa Cruz compared to Venice Boardwalk. There are so many homeless street performers here always on the prowl for a quick buck. A lot of them earn it but most of them are just con artists.
