Accounts Receivable Specialist Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service Baltimore, MD 10/14/2014 JOB DESCRIPTION Job Description: This position works in the finance and accounting department in the areas of LIRSs accounts receivables, loans processing and financial reporting. S/he plays a key role in performing day-to-day accounting operations, including month end close responsibilities, daily cash receipts and cash flow, monthly loan statement processing and revenue financial reporting to ensure compliance to LIRS policies and procedures, timeliness, and fair presentation of financial data. In collaboration with other LIRS staff, s/he ensures that revenue is recorded in accordance with GAAP. This requires interacting with other LIRS departments to obtain pertinent knowledge and detail of receivables and to work closely with bank personnel and to resolve issues.Job Duties: Responsible for recording daily accurate revenues, cash receipts and receivables. This includes contributions, grant revenue (both governmental and other), sponsorship receivables and revenue, inter-organizational receivables, loan payments, cash flow analysis and miscellaneous items. Responsible for continually communicating effectively and efficiently with grants development and resource development departments. Responsible for working with loans department to record loan payments and calculate and record loan processing revenue. Responsible for preparing monthly and year-end reconciliations for revenues, receivables and loans balances. JOB REQUIREMENTS Job Qualifications: Undergraduate degree in Accounting preferred. High School Diploma required. Demonstrated problem-solving skills, with evidence of good judgment. Demonstrated ability to proactively recommend options to resolve issues to achieve goals and a desire to serve and support others. Ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines and to organize work to be responsive to the deliverables required of the team. Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills that present financial information in an accessible way for non-financial people. Excellent Excel skills required. Commitment to LIRSs core mission and values and an ability to model those values in relationship with colleagues and partners. Demonstrated collaborative skills in a multi-cultural context. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with people of varied backgrounds in a collaborative team environment. Appreciation and respect for Lutheran beliefs and values, church member motivations and sensitivities. Minimal travel required.
