Active Word Daily Devotional, Genesis 2:22 His hand Take notice of what the Word tells us after God created Eve. It says He brought her to the man. Thats interesting! It doesnt say the man wandered around until he stumbled across her path, and it doesnt say the woman eventually made her way to him. It specifically says that God played an active part in bringing the two of them together. Why is that so significant? Its significant because its a deliberate recognition of Gods divine providence in their relationship. He was the One who was working on their behalf to create, prepare, and bring them together. The Lords hand was upon their union, and this detail is something that every believer needs to highlight in their heart. When husbands and wives recognize Gods providential hand in bringing them together, theyre reminded that theyre connected to something much bigger than themselves. Theyre attached to a greater cause, a superior agenda, and a providential plan. And thats going to give them a confidence and an outlook thats greater than what they can individually and independently possess. But the flipside is equally true. If a couple doesnt see this, if they feel like their union is a merely a matter of chance or their own doing, then the strength of their union will only be as strong as they are. And it wont take long for them to grow weak and weary. When theres a healthy recognition of Gods providential hand upon a marriage, theres also going to be a healthy marriage. As husbands and wives see His sovereign role in bringing them together, it acts as a godly glue that will keep them from falling apart when times get tough. When husbands and wives recognize Gods providential hand in bringing them together, theyre reminded that theyre connected to something much bigger than themselves. Think about it... What does this passage reveal to me about God? What does this passage reveal to me about myself? Based on this, what changes do I need to make? What is my prayer for today?
