Actor Robin Williams died today. How devastatingly sad. I had the pleasure of meeting him at an outdoor market & art gallery when I lived in San Francisco, his home is in Marin County near where I worked. Although a brief 20 minute conversation was had that day between us; I clearly remember how personable & genuine of a person he was looking me in the eye as I spoke & truly wanting to know about my story instead of only talking about himself. Very down to earth, kind & humble man. Later I learned of his personal battles with depression & substance abuse relapse & it struck me what a dichotomy; how one of the funniest most upbeat people Ive ever had the pleasure of encountering; could at that same time be battling such dark & depressing demons. Its mind boggling how some of the most outwardly funny people you will ever know are on the inside very sad, tortured & lonely souls. Rest in peace Robin Williams. I hope now you truly realize all the joy you brought to others & in that realization that your soul can find comfort & you may finally truly be at peace.
