Actress Lauren Bacall has died. I (Danny) own many of her films, and The Big Sleep is one of my favorite movies of all time. She was a mega star in the 1940s and 50s, but she was still working today. She was nominated for an Oscar in 1996 and did amazing voice work for the English version of Howls Moving Castle. She was married to mega star Humphrey Bogart, then later to movie icon Jason Robards, and had a romance with Frank Sinatra. She starred in films alongside Humphrey Bogart, Marilyn Monroe, Paul Newman, John Wayne, Henry Fonda, Kirk Douglas, Gary Cooper, Tony Curtis, Jack Lemmon, and James Garner. Its interesting how fleeting stardom can be. In her day, Bacall was as big as Jolie or Johansson are today. Yet, Im always surprised by how many young people I talk to dont know who she is and have never seen her movies. It makes you wonder if our grandchildren will one day say Who is Angelina Jolie? Fame aside, she was a really good actress and made some wonderful films.
