Acts 20:22-25 “And now, compelled by the Spirit, I am going to Jerusalem, not knowing what will happen to me there. I only know that in every city the Holy Spirit warns me that prison and hardships are facing me. However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace. “Now I know that none of you among whom I have gone about preaching the kingdom will ever see me again. Here we have Paul, who is being warned by the Holy Spirit that further persecution will come his way. Even though that is certain, he continues on toward the goal that Christ Jesus has laid before him. I cant help but to think of Jonah when I read this passage. In contrast, God called Jonah to go to Ninevah, and Jonah wouldnt go because he couldnt bear the thought of God extending mercy to the people of Ninevah. God goes to great lengths to show Jonah that his heart is wrong, yet as Jonahs story ends in the bible, we find him holding onto anger in his heart. Paul makes a better choice about how to handle difficult news from God, and that choice is a lesson for all of us. Remember, God is Above All Amen!! Praise The Good Lord Jesus Christ!
