Acts 23:11 And the night following the Lord stood by him, and said, Be of good cheer, Paul: for as thou hast testified of me in Jerusalem, so must thou bear witness also at Rome. Paul is in Jerusalem and has been put in chains. The previous day, Paul stood before the Sanhedrin, made up of Pharisees and Sadducees. The high priest ordered to have Paul struck on the mouth, and Paul quickly questions them about whether that is an appropriate command to come from a high priest. He, quite masterfully, tells the Sanhedrin that he is on trial because of his belief in the resurrection of the dead. This statement divides the Sanhedrin in two and causes such dissension that he is removed from there. The Lord “stood by him” and encourages Paul in the direction he is called. His work for the Lord will continue on in Rome. Turn to the Lord and seek His face. He stands by you, walks with you, and is never far away.
