Actual tidbit from last weekends Oz Comic-Con. During Nicholas Brendons Q&A he mentioned that he auditioned for the part of Death Lok in Agents of SHIELD and it was down to either him or J. August Richards. According to Nick they went with Jay because they wanted him to be the first African American superhero in the Marvel universe, so he was fine with that. Also Firefly according to Nick, was originally meant to star him as Captain Malcolm Reynolds. He said that Joss asked to see him one day on the set of Buffy and told him that he had written this space series with Brendon as lead. But because Fox wanted to roll early on the series, they went with Nathan Fillion, So he took my eye and my job, said Nick. Nick said he would never ever cosplay as Captain Mal Reynolds out of respect for Nathan, but for this 90s themed Halloween party that hes going to, he managed to convince his girlfriend that they should go as Willow and Xander.
