Actually Labours contract with Scotland expired in 2007 and it yielded very little result. Yes regrettably there will initially be a kind of border between Scotland and England. Independence will remove a whole range of borders between Scotland, Europe and the Rest of the World. England can remove itself from the fortress Britain by getting rid of the current political consensus, the established political culture and equalities and structure and economic violence against its own people and people from the rest of the world. Its a tall order for any country or society. I believe Scotland will just about manage it perfectly. Independence will will the catalyst will bring about change that is needed for a better and fairer society.
