Adamawa PDP to discipline Nyako Published on Friday, 19 July 2013 06:02 Written by Kabiru Anwar, Yola Governor Murtala Nyako Adamawa State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has disclosed plans by the party to take disciplinary actions against Governor Murtala Nyako and some officials of his government for allegedly engaging in anti party activities in the recent by-election in the state. Addressing a press conference in Yola yesterday, Chief Joel Madaki who is the chairman of the PDP faction backed by Bamanga Tukur, said the party would not condone any act of indiscipline among its members as no one is above the party’s constitution. He said Nyako and some of his appointees engaged in anti party activities that were injurious to the party during the recent by-election for the State House of Assembly seat for Nassarawo-Binyeri constituency. “We had invited PDP members who are officials in government for questioning as to why they engaged in anti-party activities for KOWA party during the Nassarawo-Binyeri constituency by-election. They were however instructed not to honour our invitation through a paid announcement by the former PDP secretary. Their failure to honour our invitation is a flagrant disregard to party supremacy. Certainly they can never be left unpunished,” he said. The PDP chairman asked the governor and other elected representatives to reconsider their stance and contribute towards the upliftment of the party as they were elected on its platform. He also decried the decay in the state’s civil service and attributed it to bad governance. In a swift reaction, secretary of the faction loyal to Governor Nyako, Mr PP Elisha accused Chief Joel Madaki of acting the script of the national chairman to persecute some party chieftains in the state.
