Adamawa State. Any one who bothers to remember how the GNPP Government of the late Abubakar Barde was routed by the then NPN will attest to the fact that indeed history is being repeated. Difference is that while the GNPP was routed by an invasion by the NPN, the suction method is on going against the APC Government of Governor Murtala Nyako - suction in the same manner the spider kills the butterfly. Tie it up with the web (political wilderness). Starve it to weaken (withhold budgetary allocation even if it means a national impression of brokage). Suck out the juicy fluid (migrate members till only the executive is the party). In Adamawa crisis developed on the already known faultlines. Former Lagos State Governor and CPC Governorship candidate Muhammadu Buba Marwa left the Party with the entire CPC component and returned to the PDP siting several unbearable undemocratic allegations against the Nyako factional management of affairs in the Party. It was believably skewed towards a specific checkmate against all differing aspirations. Then Governorship contestant Markus Gundiri took off with the Adamawa ACN in tow leaving his running mate Abdulrazak Namdas who is neither a Faruk Jauro nor a Philip Maken juggernauts of yore that meant wherever they were, you could say there was Southern Adamawa. Not to forget that with the Parting of ways between Boni Haruna and his master Atiku Abubakar, the former VPs collective is in hibernation in questionable strength. Boni Haruna does command a remarkable following and can restore a formidable collective considered his that put wings on Gundiris sails in 2011. Now the entire legislature has affirmed that it was not with Nyako in the great migration to APC and one can imagine a rally in Adamawa APC without the constituency crowd. Notice can not be lost to the impoverished condition of the local councils in the past 12 months, barely able to pay salaries. Antipathy against the Government in Adamawa has never been at an ebb this low. The Challenge of the PDP in Adamawa is in determining the Partys flagbearer against whoever is fielded by the APC and the Party is top heavy with hopefuls numbering to nearly one per each of the Local Governments of the State. The Party is used to a consensus approach to such issues with Joel Madaki as a grand master of the art. Once a consensus is achieved on the formula for recovering the State from Governor Nyako, it is more likely that losers therein will stay within the Party and work for the Governorship ans split ways on the Presidential. This is mere gazing at the crystal ball and the impression could change by even a slight mishap, particularly imposition that could cause a class revolt. The lingering political issue is the backwardness of the state in comparison to even its new neighbours like Gombe and Taraba which have surpassed it in infrastructure development. Adamawa State had given itself to family and other feuds dating back to the colonial era, passed on from parents to children. A culture of Godfatherism also pervades in which Adamawa State is often ruled by a protégé for a fief, or at worst as an empire by an emperor.
