Added two new things to the internet of things today. Bought a Wink hub and two GE LED connected bulbs. The bulbs are supposed to last 22 years and can now be controlled/dimmed from my phone. Kinda cool once I got it setup but it was a PITA to get up and running. I had to update my wifi hub to a better level of security (it was overdue) and then have the phone app install several firmware updates to the Wink hub. Truly no way to know what was going on and I had to cross my fingers and reboot the hub a couple of times when it seemed to just get stuck. Prior to updating, the bulbs wouldnt pair. After the first update I finally got it to pair but it would only dim the bulb, but not turn it off. After a few more attempts at firmware updates and deleting/re-pairing the bulbs we seem to have success! Now I just need to get a job again so I can afford the really cool stuff like a door lock or a set of the Hue lights from Phillips.
