Brain fog is a Cognitive dysfunction brought on by Fibro, or ME/CFS. It is not dementia or early Alzheimers. Our brain sensors are overloaded from pain and exhaustion. These signals are relayed through our brain. This causes our brains attention centers to be overwhelmed, thus causing Brain fog. Pain and fatigue demand attention from the brain so other things going into our brain slow, get blocked, or get lost altogether. This then results in our symptoms of an inability to recall words, inability to remember something, or delayed recall. Then there are the research facts, that have found with our illness, we have less Serotonin, which is responsible for controlling pain in our central nervous system. We also have less Neorepinephrine, which is responsible for focusing our thoughts and helping us to concentrate.
