Adjudications from weekend: David Read - Energy Good powerful opening -with character and musicality - well done. 5, Excellent Soprano, Flugel plays well, good style Allegro, Just the right style 13, Excellent, wonderful dynamics, neat playing, all cohesive and under control, played with vigour and energy 29, Just sticking a little here at times - you recover, you are certainly motoring along here. A strong and musical performance with very little errors. Well throughout and delivered Played with energy as it should be. Derek Broadbent - Energy A compact opening. pp perhaps a shade heavy for my taste - but there is quality in these opening sections, 2-3 works well. 3, Controlled - dont over cook the dynamics please only mps Approach to 5 in good taste Soprano in fine form well supported by all. Flug also fine to 7. Where Euph joins the picture in fine style. 4/4 Not your neatest and doesnt quite settle. 3/4 Fine Solo Cornet and this really skates along and a fine link to 13 is made. 13 Top class playing here with all parts linking well Some fine effective dynamics too. Full of energy here much to commend as you progress the tempo, the tempo increase is well judged 29, this zips along but dont loose the clarity of the notes in the excitement of the music. 40 - 42 is nicely detailed but 43 gets a bit too wild for comfort 45 is to good effect and builds well. Full of excitement - no lack of character in this playing! You head for home in fine style and close to good effect. A performance of great character from start to finish. Not quite flawless but much to commend in musicality. Thank you very much indeed Ian Porthouse - Entertainment Los Endos Great opener! All well played and grabs the audience! Endearing young Charms Solid start from band. Soloist plays with ease, good control in band. All goes well, again good control in band, especially around F BRAVO SOLOIST! Stabat Mater Suite Cantus Lacrimosus Fine quartet playing. Nice poise and flow to this. Soprano balances superbly on top of band. Lament A few small ensemble issues but generally all works well. Again soloist is on top form. Paradisi Gloria Good pulse. Be careful with the balance in this seating plan. Builds to a great close. Olympiada Ensemble not quite 100% at D All well played Overall a high class performance from start to finish Interesting music, well presented, well played and well directed. Thank you! Stabat Mater Suite Cantus Lacrimosus Great ensemble work to start, nice flugel solo followed by very good band balance with superb sop playing - great to close. Lament Another spat of perfect euphonium playing - simply beautiful Also Eb horn and flugel, wonderful playing Paradisi Gloria Great opening rhythm and as ypou progress you make the music exciting to listen to, full of quality. Olympiada Full of power and excitement with great percussion. I am spellbound at some of the fantastic playing. The power of the band leaves nothing to be desired, well played! Initially when I looked at your programme I thought it was a little corny but you WON ME OVER Simply brilliant!!
