Admin, I hope you are in a good mood and feeling a bit “flexible” today. This is “Wildlife in My (neighbour’s) Garden”, so I will understand if it is removed. But, I believe that the members of the group – particularly the birders will find it very interesting. One of our neighbours, Richard Basson, took this amazing pic , and posted it in our monthly newsletter here in Lake Michelle. Richard gave me the go ahead to post it on Facebook. His story (slightly abridged) … ”When I first saw the bird, the mouse was still alive. I opened the door to get a clear view and disturbed it and it flew off towards the tree. By the time I got the camera ready he had already “hung” the poor mouse. It was really surprising to see it tackle such big prey. I did not see the kill, but mouse’s tail was still twitching when I saw it. What amazed me was the force the bird used to hang it. The twig came out the other side of the body. It did not pierce the skin, but that stood up like a ‘tent’. The next day it was gone.” All that I can add is “Don’t mess with the Fiscal Shrikes down here in Lake Michelle!!!” ;) ;) ;)
