Administrator update We are now in stage two load shedding implying that Eskom may also take additional load away which may not necessarily Corrosion with our programme as published. I am also coming from a meeting with Eskom and Government in Nelspruit. A serious issue remains our inability to recover all costs associated to electricity consumption in the City from users. Our current average under recovery is more than R 20 million per month. This has now grown to a point where our gradual approach to replace meters and illegal consumption Is not enough. SERIOUS ACTION WILL BE INTRODUCED UNLESS WE WILL GET LOAD CURTAILMENT ONTO OF LOAD SHEDDING. This is not only applicable to us but all municipalities with similar problems in the Province. I will be meeting with directors tonight to put new measures in place. These will include 1. Immediate roll out of strict credit control measures. The R1. 4 billion owned to the municipality By businesses and consumers can no longer be carried. We may consider an incentive scheme to accelerate repayment. 2. Prepaid smart meters roll out. 3. Fast track protective structure pilot by the DBSA. 4. Energy efficiency programme on public lighting. 5. Accelerated programme to reduce illegal use and electrify areas. More about these and other measures will be communicated soon. These are not new, it is just no longer acceptable for our sustainability and to ensure that we get the services we deserve to go about these things with kid gloves.
