Admins Note: Politics of Insults MUST end Colleagues, we have stated over and over again that insults and sarcasm get us nowhere. We have 60% people that are income poor, these people are also poor in social services and information. If you are on facebook, it means you are 18 and above. This means that you should have at a minimum completed grade 12 or at least be of reasonable mind. It therefore goes without saying that maturity should begin to prevail in place of immaturity. This morning while watching Kwacha Goodmorning Zambia, Amb Sheila Siwela had this to say "If people restricted themselves to ideology, they would invest less time in discussing issues that divide them along certain lines like ethnicity, religion etc..." (sic). And we agree with Amb Siwela. What then is our ideology as UPND. We pursue the liberal social democrat political ideology. This means that we believe in a free market economy that works for the good of the community. As we pursue a free market economy we believe that basic social services are the responsibility of the state until populations have enough income to enable them make choices on social services. Our focus is very simple, we are anchoring all our interventions on these three circles of poverty. Our call is to address Income, Knowledge and Human Poverty. This is the reason our manifesto speaks to economic management, to ensure that entrepreneurs and enterprises can thrive and create wealth to address income poverty. Our manifesto emphasizes the promotion of human rights and other enablers that will give people information of what they can demand of Government. Lack of accountability has led to abuse of the electorate. In addition to parliament radio, we intend to open up Government and other public institutions for scrutiny by the citizens. Citizens must also be able to share knowledge and communicate. For example a person who sells tomato at Soweto must know the price before they get to soweto. That is knowledge economics. How many of us know how much public debt Zambia has contracted this far? We shall leave you to answer that question. Human poverty, access to quality education, health, food and water and sanitation is of prime importance to us. Morbidity and mortality as well as malnutrition are causes of low productivity. In an economy that is competing in the global world, we need to ensure that we have low downtime. These are the kinds of politics we would like to see. Social media is a place where a lot of things happen. But what is predominant on political pages is sarcasm and insults. Our appeal is simple, follow the ideology and everything else will be secondary and inconsequential. This is the UPND ideology.
