Admitted Student Profile: Benjamin Powers is majoring in Political Science and Human Rights at Bard College. “Human experiences are something we must seek out, explore, and learn from. In doing so, we are confronted with the fact that the truest connections and most educational interactions we can find in life are with those that are different from our own." Ben is from Atlanta, GA and attended school in one of the urban public school systems that have been recently criticized due to widespread cheating on standardized tests. These experiences have provided Ben with a deep understanding of the shortcomings of the US education system, and have inspired him to act as a force of change. He has traveled a great deal, most recently spending time in Johannesburg, South Africa working for an NGO focusing on positive conflict transformation. Ben is a staff writer for his college newspaper, a tutor, and is passionate about influencing positive change in a multitude of ways. Welcome Benjamin!
