Admitted to hospital yesterday for a minor operation. Yet more - TopicsExpress

Admitted to hospital yesterday for a minor operation. Yet more superdiversity and conviviality on display. The fantastically compassionate, courteous and kind staff who saw me were: American, Chinese, Ugandan via Rawanda, Nigerian, Otley (outside Leeds), Polish, Bengali, Nigerian-South African, Somali, Chinese-Vietnamese, Italian and Filipino. The Bengali sister who treated me will be marrying an Italian-British convert next week God Willing; the Chinese-Vietnamese nurses aunt is a convert of eight years whilst the aesthetician from Otley (who also happened to use a wheelchair) - upon enquiring about my facial hair - expressed his enthusiasm for the Persian poetry of Muhammad Iqbal (an influential thinker in the founding of Pakistan for the uninitiated) (I reciprocated with a variation on the theme courtesy of S.Carter!) and narrated the tradition of The Prophet (peace be upon him) that the beard should be grown to the length of a fist! This is why I love LDN! Part 2 to follow very shortly God Willing...! :)
