Admittedly I am terrible at getting Brian presents. On a very rare occasion I knock it out of the park though. This is one of those moments. Tonight crime novelist James Ellroy is in town signing his new book and screening a movie based on one of his other novels L.A. Confidential. The minute tix went on sale I snapped 4 up as an early anniversary gift to Brian. He has had an affinity for his work for years, but they are both also homegrown Angelenos. As soon as they met they began swapping stories (James has extensive knowledge of L.A.s history, especially re: the judicial system and Brians grandfather was a city D.A. turned Judge). This, though, is a pic of Brian regaling James with a story about Dashiell as he was signing a dedication to all three boys. James was so touched, he even drew a special sweet picture of a doggy inside the cover for D. Now, Im thinking, this gift has me covered for our anniversary and maybe even Hanukkah. ;-)
