Adnan Randhawa is out of mind, he blaspheme against CSS officers especially on CORRUPTION. He passes sweeping statements. Right? Glad that a PR officer has taken the issue of massive corruption and has initiated an effort. reformofpakistanrailways.wordpress/2014/12/18/what-doesnt-need-to-be-said/ What doesnt need to be said Fiaz Ahmad Khan If an officer of Pakistan Railways has tens of millions, extensive property, children studying in expensive institutions abroad and in Pakistan, enjoys a luxurious lifestyle with no prior family wealth doesn’t declare his income required under service rules every year for the last five years. How is that possible and why does it happen? Salaries of officers are barely enough to maintain a low middle class lifestyle. Even this is a questionable statement to some extent. Therefore, whenever ostentatious displays of wealth occur it should raise eyebrows and merits questioning. The underlying principle is that those holding public office such as politicians and government servants are placed in a position of public trust and therefore have to submit to scrutiny. However, when a government and an organisation is neglectful in asking how its managers from poor backgrounds become multimillionaires overnight (there are dozens and i’m tempted to be one of them) what conclusion can we take? The message being sent is very clear, that corruption is not only tolerable but desirable and it is a mistake if anyone hasn’t hopped onto the bandwagon. The only caveat is not to get caught. It also further points to the fact that corruption is rewarding and those not part of a corrupt group or lobby will be sidelined. These characteristics indicate that the unstated norms and conventions governing PR are a much more powerful determinant of organisational behaviour than statements for public consumption.
