Adopciones Quilmes is a group of people in Argentina who love animals and act against abandonment , hunger and loneliness of stray animals . We work as volunteers for Adopciones Quilmes , but a shelter is not a place where animals can stay for life. They need the love of a family to live happily . We have no support from any organization or company , we do pro bono , with our resources and with what people collaborate . We rescue stray animals abandoned by heartless people . Most of the time these animals are in very poor condition , either for lack of food , cold, thirst, etc. Many have very sad stories, some were trampled , beaten, burned. So we try to give them another chance , because they deserve it. They are cured and put up for adoption. We do not win anything material , but their happiness is what fills us . We have a shelter with seating for about 50 animals that ideally would be in constant rotation. There are also kennels, where we place the animals as soon as they enter the shelter and where they are cured to be clinically well, When the time comes, they are vaccinated and neutered and then they may become part of the rest of the shelter and make contact with other animals. In the shelter there are recreational spaces for the dogs . The shelter also has an area where cats are very welcome, as they have couches , beds, tents and different games to feel good until they find a home. We try not to have puppies in the shelter as we believe they need constant attention , which the volunteers have in their homes or in transit homes. Adopciones Quilmes also organizes campaigns and helps to decrease massive street animal population that suffers both abandonment and neglect castration. We also created an area for disabled dogs. We hold monthly mass veterinary castrations of Fundaco , we know that the main solution to reduce overcrowding is sterilizing. The volunteers meet every Saturday in Alvear st. and Rivadavia st, in the centre of the city of Quilmes, Buenos Aires, where we have adoption campaigns . Here we give the animals in adoption. We do it through a contract and only people who meet our requirements to adopt an animal, can do it. Also in the campaigns, we give place and provide information and adoption contracts to the particular people who find animals, cure them at home and want to give them up for adoption. We deliver the puppies that are older than 6 months also vaccinated and neutered to prevent animal overpopulation. At the booth we also receive donations. In order to collect money to carry out our work, Adopciones Quilmes organizes , among others, raffles, events, takes part in different festivals related to animals rights where we sell petshop products and our merchandising products, runs a shop where we sell clothes, bijouterie, books, DVD´s and other objects donated by other people.
