Adoption 16. I met with our adoption - TopicsExpress

Adoption 16. I met with our adoption worker from our private agency that did our homestudy for lunch at my favorite restaurant (Arkansas Childrens Hospital Cafeteria) lol. She wanted me to meet a baby her agency had in foster care. We went in the infant toddler room and their was this little baby girl who was twelve months old. She only weighed 10 lbs, she was skin and bones and her stomach was bulging. The worker told me her food just went right through her . About a year later our local state adoption worker, who I did a lot of networking with, called me and asked if we would be interested in a little two year old girl from foster care. I knew immediately who she was , the same little one I had visited in the hospital a year before. We were to meet the transport person for the Department of Children and family serves at Childrens hospital for she had a appointment there. We were handed a smiley little girl in a infant car seat with a big bag of medicines and feeding supplys because she was tube fed. The worker said I dont know anything about those medications nor how to feed her. She had been at the hospital most of the day and had not been fed! We took her home to the surprise of our children, we had told them we going to a meeting. We named her Tirzah Lilly, when I put her to bed that night her breathing was awful she had obstructive sleep apnea also her she did not tolerate her tube feeding. It took several years and Doctors appointments to get her medical issues stable. When we first brought Tirzah home she babbled and said DaDa . As time went on she lost those skills to self stemming and strange noises, Tirzahs cognitive skills never progressed any further. Sometimes when you open your life to what God has called you to do thing are not always as you expect them to be even if you cannot see the reason at the time. Tirzah at times can be a challenge to manage, but she is a child of God who deserves a familys love and we will continue to care for her as long as we are able.
