Adrien Johnson · Top Commenter · Joseph S. Clark Here is a article I ran across! The New Orleans Saints and the Seattle Seahawks are set to face off in a Monday Night Football game that is worthy of its primetime billing. That being said, there is talk that the Saints quarterback Drew Brees and the Seahawks’ quarterback Russell Wilson are the same. STOP! The only thing they have in common is their height. Drew Brees is listed at 6 feet on the New Orleans Saints official website. Meanwhile, Russell Wilson is listed at 5 feet 11 inches. That’s where the resemblance stops. Try as you might to legitimize your argument it’s not going to work and here’s why. While ESPN, CNNSI and other major networks boast Tom Brady, Peyton Manning and Aaron Rodgers they tend to play down Brees. Drew Brees is on pace to pass for over 5,000 yards this season. Not for the first time, second or third time but, for the fourth time in his career. If that’s not impressive enough it will be for the 3rd time he will have accomplished this in a row. Russell Wilson’s best year for passing yards so far has been 3,118 yards. While it may not be fair to say Wilson hasn’t played in the league as long as Brees consider the bench marks their setting Brees to in comparison to Wilson. In the first year Brees threw for over five thousand yards (2008) Wilson’s career total to date only eclipses Brees 2008 mark (5,069) by 411 yards. Drew Brees has several records that Russell Wilson or any other quarterback will be hard pressed to break. Drew Brees’ record of 54 consecutive games with a touchdown pass is safe for a while. That record was previously held by Johnny Unitas. Another record that won’t be touched by Wilson (going on a limb) ever is the single season pass completion percentage. In 2011 Brees’ pass completion percentage was 71.2%. That completion percentage is the best ever. The third best is Brees again with 70.6% in 2009. In 2011 Brees also threw for over 300+ yards in 13 games that season. A NFL record that has yet to be broke. Never has a quarterback in the history of the league been able to achieve what Brees has accomplished in New Orleans since 2006. In his time behind center in New Orleans Brees has accrued (2013 not included) a total of 33,571 yards. Not Montana, Unitas, Brady or either Manning thrown for so many yards in that time span. Brees is the fastest player in NFL history to reach 40,000 yards passing. Russell who? That’s right, period. There is no comparison. Russell Wilson may become a great quarterback eventually but, from where I stand it may take him two careers to even touch Drew’s.
