Advent Albums Day 23 - A double header today to catch up. Only two more days to go and the list is finished. This is the first Tori Amos album, Little Earthquakes from 1992. I guess it belongs in the eccentric female artists singing their own weird material at the piano genre along with the Regina Spektor I posted earlier. Apparently thats a genre I like :-) I think it would be fair to say Tori has more than her share of emotional issues and doesnt shy away from confronting them in song. The album is confessional in nature and particularly painfully so on the acapella track, Me and a Gun which recalls her experience of being raped when she was twenty one. But there is also some beautiful material, excellently written and sung, sensitive, lyrically acute and melodic. It is an album Ive come back to over the years, for some if not all of the tracks. Here is Silent All These Years which I particularly like:- youtu.be/7_jXRi6cu9A
