Advent Devotion - December 20, 2014 The One Worthy of Our Praise Scripture: Romans 16:25-27 (MSG) Rev. Dr. Clyde A. White “All of our praise rises to the One who is strong enough to make you strong, exactly as preached in Jesus Christ, precisely as revealed in the mystery kept secret for so long but now an open book through the prophetic Scriptures. All the nations of the world can now know the truth and be brought into obedient belief, carrying out the orders of God, who got all this started, down to the very last letter.” All our praise is focused through Jesus on this incomparably wise God! Yes! As we reflect on Paul’s words in these verses of the letter to the church in Rome, let us focus on the One who deserves all of our Praise. Paul’s last line in the NIV translation reads, To the only wise God be glory forever through Jesus Christ! Amen. This very powerful benediction should remind each of us every time that we read it of just why we must be faithful in our service to God. It also serves as a reminder of the importance of developing a deeper relationship with God through Christ Jesus, our Lord. For true genuine praise is only developed when we have invested the time and energy, by the guiding of the Holy Spirit through Christ Jesus, to diligently search after a meaningful relationship with our God. When we think about how much time and energy we’ve spent in search of wisdom by other means, only to discover, that what we thought was wisdom was foolishness in disguise. Godly Wisdom only comes from God and all we need do is ask! “If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.” James 1:5 (NIV) “All of our praise rises up to the One who is strong enough to make us strong.”And they create sweet fragrance in Heaven, and to God be the Glory! Prayer: Precious and Loving God, today we want to thank You for being the One who deserves our praise. You not only deserve our praise today, but You keep on deserving our praise every day that You give us. We thank You, we love You, and we adore You. In Jesus’ name we pray, amen. Thought for Today: Scripture says that God uses our prayers to create a sweet fragrance in heaven; let us agree to keep heaven smelling heavenly.
