Advice Issued For: Omeo, Uplands, Hinnomunjie, Bingo Munjie, Bingo Munjie North, Omeo Valley, The Brothers, Benambra Fire Origin: 58 KMS SSW OF CORRYONG Incident Name: CORRYONG - KINGS CREEK Issued: 24/01/14 9:04 AM This Advice message is being issued by Department of Environment and Primary Industries for Omeo, Uplands, Hinnomunjie, Bingo Munjie, Bingo Munjie North, Omeo Valley, The Brothers, Benambra. Firefighters are responding to a fire in the 58 KMS SSW OF CORRYONG area. There is a large fire burning in the Kings Creek area, approximately 30km north, north east of Benambra. Rainfall has decreased fire activity. Minimal work is occurring on the fire line. Heavy rains may impact the Corryong Benambra Road, particularly where fire activity has occurred. The Corryong-Benambra Road remains closed between Sassafras Gap, Nariel Valley and Kings Flat, Uplands, the following tracks are closed: - Kings Creek Track - Eustace Gap Track - King Spur Track - Dartmouth track The following camping areas are closed and must not be accessed by either road or water: - Eustace Gap camp - Dartmouth Track Camp There is currently no threat to communities, but you should continue to stay informed and monitor conditions. Smoke will be visible from nearby communities and roads. The Bureau of Meteorology has forecast potential heavy rain between 20 to 40mm across North East Victoria and Gippsland for today. This may cause localised flash flooding, lightning and heavy downpours which could affect local catchment areas. Increased temperatures have been forecast for the coming week, which may increase fire activity. Fire crews will continue to monitor the situation. The next update is expected by 24/01/14 5:00 PM or as the situation changes. Safety Information: Review your bushfire survival plan. If you do not have a plan, decide what you will do if the situation changes. If you have time check your neighbours to see if they are monitoring conditions.
