Advisory Committee to devise action plan for development of new Capital City! Choosing and building a great Capital City will have profound consequences for its people and its social and economic future. Our objective is to build a vibrant, diverse and inclusive city that offers the best opportunity for residents to lead a productive and comfortable in high quality settings. To achieve this, my Government has constituted an Advisory Committee comprising of Government ministers and officials, Members of Parliament and several industry experts. Their responsibility will be to examine the various aspects of constructing a capital city as well as to suggest an action plan for its development. One of their important jobs is to find out a way to make efficient use of natural resources – land, water and energy – promoting smart and sustainable urban living. Policies will be drafted to promote vertical development of cities along transportation corridors, not only within the city but also in the larger Metropolitan area, thereby preventing development of an urban sprawl. Effective institutional and management systems will also be set up to enable cost-effective construction and professional management of the new capital. I hope that our Capital City will drive multifold increase in per capita income and per capita smiles of our people.
