Aerosmith released Rock In A Hard Place in1982. The album is perhaps best remembered for NOT featuring regular guitar players Joe Perry and Brad Whitford who had both left the band around 1980 after the band imploded following 10 years of life on the road and a fair amount of substance abuse along the way... Jimmy Crespo (who I think is AMAZING) and Rick Dufay stepped in, and helped put together one of my very favourite Aerosmith albums. It is amongst the least week known, being in between their peak in the 1970s and their comeback in the mid-late 1980s. Crespo wrote a lot of the material on the album, and it really does have a unique feel. However, throwing Tylers voice on the top of it and it is quintessential Aersomith. Buy this album if you dont already own it! The second song on the album is Lightning Strikes, and Aerosmith released a music video for this track. This was quite unusual in the pre MTV era, and it has not aged well! It is worth a watch though, particularly if you like seeing melons pulped with baseball bats...or possibly some of the earliest ever CGI, and bad lip syncing. Hell, Tyler is even miming different words towards the end of the track! The video is actually a little distracting from what is a very good song. Joe Perry himself is particularly envious of not cutting this track with Aerosmith. I would love to see this back in their live set! Enjoy! youtu.be/C-TSvxZ40RQ
