Afghanistan Campaign Photographic Roll of Honour Journal/Album 2002 - 2014 My name is Albert Owens and I am the Curator of the Palace Barracks Memorial Garden, designed and established by me to remember friends killed in the Falkland Islands conflict in 1982. I have maintained the Garden on a voluntary basis for the last twenty one years. I have been a SSAFA Case Worker for 15 years. I also served in the Armed Forces . To mark the withdrawal of all British combat forces from Afghanistan at the end 2014 I am in the process of producing a Roll of Honour dedicated to the men and women in the Armed Forces who have been killed on operations in that country.. The Roll of Honour for Afghanistan will be a high quality, landscape volume journal of A4 size with hard front and rear covers in faux leather. The volume will be laid out with an individual full colour photograph of each serviceman and servicewoman under the heading of 49 different cap badges, in date order with a short biography of each serviceman or servicewoman. I am placing an order for a first edition of 1000 volumes with the printers, at cost of £12,000. I intend to pay a deposit of £5,000 personally in order to get the project up and running and will then be taking orders. The price to purchasers for each volume will be £35, and all the profits above the cost of production and distribution will be divided between the following charities: The ABF The Soldiers Charity £4 per Book The RAF Benevolent Fund £4 per Book The Royal Marines Charities (Go Commando) £4 per Book SSAFA Bereaved Military Families Support group £4 per Book SSAFA Forces Help (NI) £2 per book Falklands Chapel Pangeborne Trust £2 per Book The response I have had so far from the many bereaved families, friends and comrades of those killed with whom I have been in contact has been very positive, and supportive of the project. Each volume can also be personalised with a suitable inscription for an additional £3.75 . I have attached a sample page below this letter to illustrate the proposed layout for each page in the volume,The book will have over 200 high quality pages with the name and unit badge of the Unit, Regt or Corps the servicemen or woman belonged to. If interested in this book please contact me by email and i will add your name to the list and you will be contacted with any updates. Book early and dont be disappointed The book/Journal will be published in February 2015. Albert Owens Memorial CustodianEmail: [email protected]
