#Afghanistans presidential runoff election results announced KABUL: (Middle East Press) middleeastpress.net/english/ Dr. Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai has gained lead in preliminary vote results for runoff presidential election by securing 4,485,888 votes equal to 56.44 percent of total votes. While Dr. Abdullah Abdullah has gained 3,461,639 votes, which is equal to 43.56 percent of the total votes. The Independent Election Commission of Afghanistan (IEC) on Monday released the preliminary vote results for the runoff election which was conducted on 14th June and IEC chief, Ahmad Yousuf Nuristani released the preliminary vote results after almost four hours of delay. Nuristani said around 8,109,403 people contributed in runoff presidential election which contains of 62.37% male voters and 37.63% female voters. He admitted technical problems and fraud in the second round of election and said a number of high level and low government officials including governors and government employees had intrusion in elections process. Nuristani also insisted that the preliminary vote results may modify once all electoral complaints have been reviewed. He said the final vote results for the runoff election are expected to be released on 22 July.
