Afrobarometer: Eeeish! Malawi’s 2014 Elections: Amid Concerns About Fairness, Outcome is Too Close to Call. Key Findings: ELECTION CONTEXT Malawians express widespread concern about the current direction of their country: 1. 78% say the country is going in the wrong direction in 2014, while just 18% say it is going in the right direction. Dissatisfaction has increased from 2012, although even then a majority of 51% said things were going in the wrong direction (Figure 1) 2. 49% say they are satisfied with the way democracy works in Malawi in 2014, down slightly from 53% who said the same in 2012 3.
