After 11 of these countdown posts, we are now on the 12th one, with only 2 days left until FLC. Im basically shaking with excitement as I type up this post because it reminds me of how close FLC is, how close the new Interact year is to truly beginning. I remember my first time at FLC. I remember the screams and the cheers, the welcoming vibes and the sing-a-longs with 3,000 other people, the workshops and the pictures. But the most profound memory I have of FLC was when 3,000 teenagers were seated and completely silent, all eyes on that years international project. I remember vibrating in my seat as they were announcing it. The cheers getting louder and louder every time a new number of how much we have raised and how many hours we have dedicated towards our past projects came up. I remember cheering with these people and feeling a sense of pride in being in the presence of people who at such a young age, have fought and done such great things not for themselves, but for other people. They were doing it because they believed in, Service above self, and not because they had to, but because they wanted to. I had never felt so much unity with complete strangers before. I had never felt so much passion and commitment and love in vibrating within so many people in on room at once before. I had never fallen in love with anything before in just a matter of 3 minutes and 41 seconds. In only 3 minutes and 41 seconds. FLC is a lot of things. FLC is awe-inspiring and jaw-dropping and completely life-changing and mind-blowing. But most of all, FLC is the beginning of a new Interact year. A new year filled with new members never exposed to the power of service, new voices that have yet to be heard and new passion that has either being relit or is starting for the very first time. In 2012, my passion was sparked and my Interact journey was just beginning.
