After 16 months, an embarrassing series of news reports and a court order, the Fairfax County Police Department finally releases the type of information on a police involved shooting that many area departments release within a day. While my confidence in the men & women who protect us remains extremely high, my disappointment in the leadership of the police department and the Fairfax County Government continues to grow. The statement by BOS Chairman Sharon Bulova is completely inadequate. Because of the boards involvement in this mess, we must have an independent investigation into this short-sighted and ridiculous police department information policy that undermines public confidence in our police.
