After 25 years in the United States Armed Forces (14 years - TopicsExpress

After 25 years in the United States Armed Forces (14 years enlisted in the US Army; 11 years commissioned in the US Navy), I will be putting in for retirement. I will continue to serve in the Navy Reserve for another seven or so months, but be looking for a retirement announcement in the March timeframe. I have spent more than half my life in uniform. This will be a bittersweet transition, but I think its time to move on to whats next. In my time in uniform, I have deployed to Bosnia, twice to Iraq, Guantanamo Bay, and off the coast of Libya during combat operations against Khaddaffi. I have served throughout the Middle East and in much of Europe. I make this announcement on the Feast of Saint Ignatius of Loyola. I owe much of who I am to my Jesuit education and I have always held Saint Ignatius, a soldier himself, in a very special place in my heart. He reminds me that what you do after military service can be your greatest contribution to the collective good. I pray that I may find my path out of uniform and that I may continue to serve the cause of peace and justice. I ask for your prayers over these next few months as I begin the journey toward retirement. Thank you.
