After ACD NSW representations to the Premier Barry O’Farrell and the Minister for Education and a meeting with Kevin Keller, Associate Director, Access and General Education Faculty and Helen Cosgrove, Regional Manager - Access and General Education, recently, TAFE NSW has re-introduced a range of courses for students with an intellectual disability commencing in July 2013. You may recall that a range of courses were terminated without notice at the end of 2012. Several courses suitable for students with disabilities will run in Semester 2, 2013. Some of these courses (see attached) will be delivered over 8 weeks with others extending to 16 weeks. TAFE have been mindful of cost and families will have the option of making two payments instead of having to make an upfront payment. Several other courses are currently being developed – these include a Fitness program and a Certificate 2 course in Cleaning skills, with some being available in Term 4, 2013 and others in 2014. You are welcome to distribute these flyers if you wish. I understand that the courses will be advertised in local newspapers and through various Agencies. The more students that enrol in these courses the more likelihood that TAFE will expand the range and the number of locations where the courses are held.
