After Kei Nishikori won the final point in his 5-set US Open - TopicsExpress

After Kei Nishikori won the final point in his 5-set US Open marathon defeat of Milos Raonic at 2:26 AM Tuesday morning, he couldnt just shower and go back to his hotel to sleep and prepare for a match vs Stan Wawrinka on Wednesday afternoon. He showered and came out to meet w/Japanese press at 3:18AM EST. I had gone to bed when Raonic was up 2 sets to 1, and didnt imagine the match would go the limit, to 5 sets, or that Nishikori would be on the winning side. The Times article by Christopher Clarey, who must have been there himself for Nishikoris press conference w/Japanese reporters, writes that, Improbable as it seems, 2:26 a.m. appears to be a force field at the Open that keeps players from extending themselves any further, as several other US Open matches have also ended exactly at 2:26 AM.
