After a discussion with my dad this morning, it has come to my attention that there has been a lot of negative talk about some of my photos, and I wanted to address that today. Social media allows us to pick and choose the information that we want others to know about us - whether it is text posts, or photos and videos. I think it is important to understand that what you see on any social media is normally filtered - most people do not post things that they do not consider socially acceptable. That being said, I want everyone to know that the clothes that I wear and the content that I choose to post on my various social media platforms are only a small fragment of me as a whole. There were several comments made to me saying you have an image to uphold, and to that I say NO. I am not here to adhere to your notions of who you think I am. I am a complex individual. I am still exploring and discovering myself. I am ever-evolving. I will not censor myself for your own personal satisfaction. I consider comments made about my choices to be very petty because they do not have anything to do with anyone but myself. Chances are these individuals will never understand me, because they have chosen to instead judge a book by its cover. It saddens me that judgement has been passed on me by people who have only a tiny glimpse of who I actually am. Those individuals do not actually take the time to get to know me and refuse to see past what is being presented. Not to mention, other things such as my character and my accomplishments have been thrown out of the window because of a photo or some sort of event that I went to. I have mentioned this to a few people already, but I think a lot of people, my family included, do not understand that the more restricted I am, the more you have pushed me away. On the other hand, there are those rare individuals who accept me for who I am, as a multidimensional person. I owe you all a great many thanks because that is something of extreme importance to me. I am incredibly blessed to have these amazing people in my life. My heart swells at the thought that I have such a strong support system. I am truly grateful for you all. You know who you are.
