After a freezing night across London, it reminded me of recent research I read, that has busted the age old myth, that cold weather kills viruses and bacteria. A study found that bacteria and viruses are given effective protection by cold weather, it allows them to build a strong barrier around these airborne particles, ensuring that when we breathe them in, or they land on the skin the germs are complete and can cause maximum infection. In contrast, in warmer weather the bacteria and viruses are broken up and so when they come into contact with us, they are much less potent and our immune systems (boosted by vitamin D from sunlight) can effectively deal with these germs. Its really important to nourish our immune systems in cold weather, to keep us healthy and vital. In health, Juliette
