After a last minute bid to further reduce the number of kangaroos - TopicsExpress

After a last minute bid to further reduce the number of kangaroos to be killed during this year’s annual ACT cull we lodged an emergency application back at ACAT yesterday morning. ASK and counsel sought for a review of the decision because we believed a miscalculation may have occurred in the ruling of the reduced number of kangaroos to be killed and to ask the tribunal to substantiate these arbitrary kill numbers. In a strange twist the ACT government agreed with us that there was a discrepancy in the tribunal’s calculations but the tribunal dismissed our application. We will update you all further in more detail in the coming days, it has been a long and exhausting week. We again thank the tireless efforts of the incredible team at DLA Piper, Geoffrey Kennett SC and BAWP. We would also like to thank all the people out there on the ground at the nature parks every night. And as always we thank you all so much for your ongoing support, you can be assured we will continue to do all we can to fight for the ACT kangaroos. ASK
