After a long, much needed break, this officially wraps up my summer previews (for which I’m glad because it can only mean one thing... Fall previews are next). Where do you even start when it comes to this family, these photographs? This shoot was taken in LBI where this family vacations every summer and it has come to be a sort of tradition for them. The three of them, the sand, the crashing waves and a week away from everything that keeps them busy and rushed. It’s a place to decompress and relax. It comes as a special place in my heart when I get to photograph my very own family, pieces of my own childhood, and people who are closest to me. Heather has very much been a part of my life since, well, I can’t even remember honestly. We used to stand at the end of my front porch and argue over who was older (we were 3 by the way). That’s probably my earliest, clearest memory, but I do remember feeling like I knew her a lifetime (even then). We’ve been through pretty much everything together. And when Heather met and eventually married Ryan I couldn’t have hand picked a better partner for her, for she picks up where he leaves off and vice versa. So to see my friend with a family of her own and a daughter that reminds me soooo much of her when we were little, it’s beyond what my words can even express, it’ s a small reflection of our very own childhood. Miss Addison, with hair the color of her father’s and eyes the color of her mothers and a sing songy voice with a twang that remembers all of the country songs on the radio... you are such a light. And you’re soon to be 4, and there is no doubt in my mind that you will surely conquer the world.
