After a lot of umming and ahhing all 3 of us will now set off into the desert at 6pm local time. The distance will be about 440km before the next town, so we have stocked up on enough food to hopefully last us the distance. Todays plan was to relax before our departure but in reality it was a nightmare. A simple trip to the ATM machine turned into a 5 hour long pursuit of money. There were crowds of around 50 at each machine each seeming to withdraw their life savings. At one point it was looking unlikely our cards would even work and we would have to exchange dollars someplace. In the end though we got cash (therefore food) but it really did test our patience.
