After a visit to see Nelson Mandella in hospital, an African man and his ten year old son (both Nigerians) boarded a plane from South Africa to America. Trouble began 13 minutes into the flight. There was a loud bang and then a loss of power. The pilot told the terrified passengers that there was a mechanical engine failure meaning that one of the engines of the aircraft had stopped working. We need some volunteers, he said to jump off this plane or were gonna crash!...anybody willing to prevent this please raise your hands and jump off now? No hands were raised. Disappointed, the pilot then said Oh well then, Im going to do this alphabetically (from A to Z). So starting with the letter A. Is there any African on board please raise your hand and jump off the plane? No hands were raised. Ok he scratched his head Lets go to the letter B, any Black man here, please jump?. again no hands were raised. alright pilot said, now to letter C. Any Coloured person here could you jump off now? No hands were raised. At this moment, the ten year old African boy turned to his father and said. Dad, if we are not Africans, we are not Blacks and we are not Coloured, then who the hell are we?. Son! the man lowered his head. for now, in this plane, we are the Zulus!
