After a wonderful weekend of gorgeous weddings it saddens me to post a message like this, however this is simply an issue that cannot be ignored. I have received a text message from someone claiming to be a groom-to-be, who said he spoke to me at a recent expo. Apparently he and his fiancé had asked me to quote for a lolly buffet (which I have no real recollection of). I will not repeat the long winded text message here due to the extreme language, abuse and harassment involved – but the crux of it was that he felt I was a money grubbing ‘f*****g slu*’, that he could make his own lolly buffet using $2 bags of cheap candies, and that I had no right to run a business or offer quotes. The message was long and filled with hateful, threatening and insulting language. I was referred to as a ‘f*****g slu*’ more than 7 times, amongst other more extreme things. I was accused of trying to ‘rip people off’ to line my own pockets. I have no problem at all with couples shopping around and finding the right suppliers for them. My prices are online for anyone to see, and as a businesswoman I take pride in providing the best quality service at a price that also allows me to run a sustainable business and support my family as a working mum. However it is NEVER ok to email, call, message or refer to any other person in this unspeakably crude manner. I have now taken this matter to the police, and am working with our vast network of friends in the wedding industry to ensure none of us become victims of this type of harassment. Please remember that we are not faceless corporations – we are small businesses run by real people, who are working long hours with real passion to help SA couples create their dream weddings. I am so thankful that for more than 6 years our bridal couples have been wonderful to work with. When something like this happens I can brush it aside because I know our true supporters are amazing and have far more respect than this angry, twisted excuse for a human. Kellie – Set Your Scene
